area: 30 m2
The terraced garden in front of the house is a space where children can play, lie down, pick flowers, and where friends can gather to sit and talk.
Residents of the house can gaze at the garden everyday through the wide opening, feel the light and the wind, and experience the changing seasons. Perennial plants bloom, change their colours, and wither every year. The nikko maple near the entrance turns to deep shades of red in autumn.
Plants have been selected and arranged to create a space and scenery where people can also gather. A boundary with the road is created by placing voluminous plants on the lower step of the south and east side, leaving a gathering place in the middle under the soft shade of the tsuribana tree.
